Limbo derives from the Latin limbus meaning something like "edge or boundary of Hell". It is the alleged condition of those who die in original sin without being assigned by their creator to the Hell of the damned.

It's all about living on the edge of a precipice but stuck in a kind of surreal, semi-death-like state, unable to move up toward 'Heaven' or down toward 'Hell'.
Quagmired in the complexities and entropy of everyday life.
